About the Photographer

Peter James Klco (pronounced Kelso) has been shooting a wide variety of subjects for over 25 years. Formally trained in traditional film and darkroom techniques, he also had the benefit of studying the then emerging digital photography techniques while in school. His real world photography experience has touched almost every genre of professional photography, but his deepest passion is photographing the landscape, landmarks and lifestyles of the most dynamic locations in the world.

Having traveled extensively, Peter James has chosen to call Northwest Washington home. Year round outdoor activities and a thriving local business environment are two of the key factors, but his love of this land goes much deeper into the core of everything he is passionate about.

His truck camper is his portable home and studio. It allows him to do extended trips into the wilderness and remote regions of Washington State. It also acts a basecamp for extended backpacking trips. Photo expeditions are regular and productive. Day trips also yield great adventure and more photographic opportunities. Back country backpacking and hiking is first on the list, followed by sea kayaking, snowshoeing, and biking.

"Being a photographer is my way of helping people see the beauty that is all around us and helping us all to focus more on the things we want to see more of in our world." - Peter James

Peter James lives in the foothills of Mount Baker in southern Whatcom County with his daughter Zaya May and wife iMa. When at home, he is busy in his yard landscaping and gardening, tending fruit trees and vines, playing with Zaya in the yard or by a campfire playing guitar. Weeknights you'll find him at local parks and beaches or at community gatherings that he participates in and hosts.
